What is new in the UNLEASHED camp these days?
How is the new album HAMMER BATTALION
recording going? Are you satisfied with your
newest work?
We are extremely satisfied , see some of the samples
on our website www.unleashed.se.
We are very eager to hear what you all think of the
new songs. We have an upcoming tour in North
things look just fantastic thank you.
Previous MIDVINTERBLOT was the band’s eight
album (and UNLEASHED best effort since first
album WHERE NO LIFE DWELLS, in my opinion)
released in year 2006...
What can we expect from the new album

...Anyone who feels the same as you on MIDVINTERBLOT
will definitely enjoy HAMMER BATTALION... it’s in
the same spirit but I think the production is even better
this time. Stronger songs too!!!
Most of your lyrical content is actually quite specific
and particular...
The Viking topic is always presented on the UNLEASHED
albums... What kind of lyric themes is on the new album?
As you just stated so correctly... lots of Viking tradition
lyrics off course, and also a new way of dealing with the
religious problems on planet Earth. And some political
stuff... pretty much things we normally do... only I hope
our warriors like it even more this time off course...
How long did it take to create the album
HAMMER BATTALION?
Ahh... writing the music and lyrics you mean? About 18
months I guess...
Where did the idea for the title HAMMER BATTALION
come from?
I have felt the need for this my whole life. Ever since I
first started listening to metal music there have been
people hating me us for it ever since the early 80’ies...
We needed a battalion for unite around , a forum for
striking back. Join the battalion !!!
When you writing new lyrics or music is there any
temptations to change some from the roots or do you
feel there’s a responsibility to write within a OLDSCHOOL
DEATH METAL BAND? Was you approach to writing
HAMMER BATTALION the same as the first UNLEASHED
albums?
Always the same style of music. We are pioneers of old- school
Swedish Death Metal but we are also defining the road ahead.
I am not looking back as I create new music and lyrics... but
UNLEASHED will never leave its roots. Swedish Death Metal
can and will be developing into amazing things...
there is no end !!!
In your opinion what does the new album offer both in music
and lyrics that either UNLEASHED have not done on the
previously releases?
New stronger songs, a better more harsh yet clean production
than before. A new way of dealing with the religious problems
on planet Earth. Some of the greatest Viking tradition songs
I have ever written. Some very strong material there.
Let’s talk about the even song on HAMMER BATTALION...
The Greatest of All Lies- His song is about the passion of the
Jesus Christ, said to be the origin of what Christianity is built
upon... the wars, terror and bloodshed it lead to is a nice little
story they never want to talk about.
Long Before Winter’s Call- Jesus Christ was much likely
born in Autumn... at least if you read the bible and listen to
some of it’s spokesmen these days... so why the celebration
of Christmas eve?... there is no such thing.
Again... lies.
Your Children Will Burn- Whatever has been done in the
name of different religions will not be forgotten. All things
done against Mother Nature will eventually cause her
striking back. And she has the means to do so!
Hammer Battalion- Metal heads against all those who oppose
us!... Join your local Hammer Battalion! ... or start one
yourself!
This Day Belongs To Me- This one is for all those who feel
that the wind must turn, and good fortune must come your
way this time.
Marching Off To War- A war anthem classic UNLEASHED
style... Join the battalion... Onward into battle!!!
Entering The Hall Of The Slain- For all warriors who know
their mortal days are coming to an end.
Black Horizon- Got the idea to this song from the flight
back from a very successful tour on North America- Vinland
back in 2007. A true Viking spirit song. We will make a
video of this song in June.
Carved In Stone- This song is continuation of Black Horizon
... the faith of the warriors of
stone... a rune stone naturally!
Warriors Of Midgard- This here is a very political song .
I am sick and tired of obsolete political systems who exists
for reason none can explain. We will take the lead and march
forward into the future, showing the old and obsolete ideas
there is a better way. We will define the road ahead!!
Midsummer Solstice- One of the most important Viking
traditions is the celebration of the summer solstice.
Drink to Frey and Freya for good fortune and fertility
if you need! Hail Odin!
Home Of The Brave- A true warrior will always be
remembered for his or her actions in life.
When we are gone, for we will all die some day, we hope
to get a very special place in the hearts and minds of the family
and friends we leave behind,
I Want You Dead- Dedicated to all those common people
ho have been mocking us metalheads for so many years...
our answer is as clear now so ever... Never ending hate!!!
Are you planning to create some DVD record after all this
year of band’s existence on metal scene?
Yes and we have a two hour documentary since 1990 up to
now... the only bad thing is the main film was recorded in
2005 and is getting a bit old. We need a new one. Our previous
record label CENTURY MEDIA raised the prize 100% for it
and we couldn’t afford to buy it from them... fucked up.
But we will come up with a new one I am sure.
Are there any certain religious or philosophical beliefs
within the band?
You can call me a Viking if you want hahaha!!! Well I am
not religious person at all, our lyrics have much symbolical
meaning and often deal with tradition... not religion which is
a different thing. We are all pretty much the same within
the band.
Where has your best audience or best show on the last
UNLEASHED tour?
I couldn’t really pic just one... the whole European tour was
fantastic. It wouldn’t be fair to go namedropping here... sorry.
What is your opinion about the world metal scene nowadays?
It is what it always has been. For Death Metal however...
things are growing and obviously I like that very much.
It would be great to see you come to play in
first time...
