INTERVIEW WITH... WULFGAR

Hi Emil. Thanks for taking time out to talk to me. How's everything for the band as of late? Hel! Everything is going great for Wulfgar so far, seems like we are in for a killer ride 2008, with gigs and studio sessions. We are rehearsing some new tracks to try on stage for you guys! First of all, introduce our readers with WULFGAR’s history and band members biography. Well, to make a long story short, we have only played together since summer 2005. Our first gig was just a couple of weeks after Morgan had joined us. Did some small gigs and in the winter of 2006, we recorded our first demo. After that we toured Sweden and the fan base grew. In the fall of 2006 we started on our second demo, that was suppose to be a 4 tracked demo. But we had only done 2 tracks when Kampas records contacted us trough my space. Wulfgar had some other labels on the way, but Kampas had a deal we liked. So after some negotiations we inked with Kampas records. Congratulations on your debut "With Gods and Legends Unite" – it has surely become an amazing record. How long did the writing take for the album? Hum...very fast..4 month?.. Morgan is a genius. Who is mostly responsible for the song-writing? Well, its Morgan he is a music genius! Give me a few details about "With Gods and Legends Unite" recordings. You can see most of it on the webb, cus we did a couple of "reality show" episodes were you can see how handsome we are..ehm..hehe look it up on youtube.com The album is graced with an incredible production that is very easy to listen to. I take it you are satisfied with the studios you've worked with to produce and mix this record? Yeah. its a great sound for a debut album, but are we ever reeealy satisfied?? hehe Lets hope we can get the next alum to look just as awesome as "with gods and legends unite" and kick the sound quality even higher. Is there a particular song that you prefer that you feel really stands out on the album? Hum..cleansed by fire..Hemdaills horn..on a battlefield in midgard...return from Hel..aah..sorry..cant deside, they are all great Tell me in a few sentences about the lyrical themes and concepts you treat in "With Gods and Legends Unite". Some are about the epic feeling you get right before you go berserk on the battlefield or when you lay on the ground ingured... for example. And some are about the ancient gods we northern men worshiped and some legends and sagas. ..Well you get it. If you know something about the norse mythology, you will understand a great deal. What do you feel you can offer to the worldwide audience with album "With Gods and Legends Unite"? One of the things we wanted to concentrate on is that you dont have to read what the song is about, cus the agony vocals are still understandable without the text in front of your nose and kicks the experience a bit higher. And all the instruments have a story to tell, just listen and take on the journey of youre life! Its an epic album that is very emotional and is best listened to on a loud volume. Wulfgar tales you back in time, were you are a great warrior, which might be a great reality escape? How has the label, Kampas Records , been accommodating the band's needs? When we signed with Kampas we knew it was kinda big gamble, cus Kampas is a very young label. But we have to say that Kampas have done a great job and you can now find "With gods and legends unite" all over the world and Kampas is still growing fast. One of Kampas motto is that the bands should have as much as possible to say about their own band. I guess we have done what and how we want with Wulfgar so far.

Do you have any live activities scheduled for the coming months in support of this incredible new album?

Yeah! got some great gigs coming up both here in Sweden and abroad. And watch out for the European tour in October with the Brasil and band Unerthly. . And if you come to some of our journeys in time and headbang with us, you will have some taste of the next album too Which bands had a strong impact on your music and writing? its a great mixture, but Morgan has some favorites.

What do you think about the metal scene in Sweden nowadays? Are there any new bands you think should be mentioned? Fuck yeah! we have many great band here. One of our friend bands, that are really good...EROTTICA. They have a album out named "Erottism" and are looking for a new label at this time. Vanmakt, is another friend band, that plays black metal for the "Pulverised records" . I think they have a nice future ahead of them. Well.. I could go on and on.. What are your plans and goals for the nearest future?

Do our tours 2008, and then hit the studio again. Apart from the band - what do you do when you are at home: do you have time for hobbies? My hobbies are music. I work some in Studio Nidavallen (www.myspace.com/studionidavallen) And I arrange gigs for other bands. I’m also a member in Sweden’s largest exotic animals association board. I like those exotic animals and own a large number of snakes, lizards and other exotic animals and plants. Thanx man !!! See you and good luck !!!! Thank you! and HAIL!!
