INTERVIEW WITH... PERRA
HAIL P.! BAND WAS FORMED IN YEAR 1993 BY J.SULASALMI AND P.NILSSON.TELL ME (IF YOU KNOW) WHAT'S HAPPENNED WITH THE P.NILSSON AFTER TWO DEMOS ('DAEMON 1 &2") ?
PERRA: Ave brother! Thanks for inviting NOMINON to your zine. Peter formed the pure Black Metal band FAFNER after he and Juha decided to go different ways in 1993. Peter now lives in the
BACK TO YEAR 1999 AND BAND'S DEBUT CD "DIABOLICAL BLODSHED". WHY SUCH A LONG PERIOD OF TIME FROM THE BAND'S FIRST DAYS TO BAND'S FIRST OFFICIAL STUDIO ALBUM?
PERRA: The band wasn’t really eager to start releasing albums right away, it was more important to just spread the demos in the underground. Also, there wasn’t any really serious label response until X-treme Rds contacted the band in 1998.
YOU REPLACED EMIL ON DRUMS IN YEAR 2001. DID YOU PLAYED IN SOME OTHER BANDS BEFORE ENJOYED THE NOMINON? WHAT'S HAPPENNED WITH EMIL AFTER HE LEAVE THE BAND?
PERRA: At the time when I joined NOMINON I didn’t actually played in any REAL band, just jamming around with some friends. Earlier I used to play with lots of bands like SUFFER, SERPENT, TAR, NASUM…etc. Emil chose to concentrate more on his other band THE LEGION. That was the main reason of him leaving the band. Not to long after that he joined MARDUK as well, so I guess he was more interested to just play Black Metal.

IN YEAR 2005 NOMINON WAS RELEASED THE SECOND FULL LENGTH "RECREMATION" CD ON KONQUEROR REC. AND LP BY BLOOD HARVEST REC. ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH THESE LABELS AND THEIR WORK?
PERRA: Since we are still working with the same labels also on the new release “TERRA NECROSIS” I guess one can say that we are extremely satisfied. I mean, it would be very stupid of us to continue to work with the same labels again if we weren’t really satisfied. They are both down-to-earth about the business side and of course, the most important of all; Huge fans of NOMINON and the whole underground movement in general.
BACK TO LAST YEAR 2006 – YOU WAS PRESENTED A FIRST BAND'S PROMO VIDEO "HORDES OF FLIES". DAVE FROM VITAL REMAINS WAS A SPECIAL "INTRODUCTION GUEST"… WHAT IS THE BAND'S COOPERATION WITH VITAL REMAINS? J. ANDERSSON (bass) LEAVE THE BAND AND HE WAS REPLACED BY A. MALMSTROM… WHAT IS A MAIN REASON FOR THIS?
PERRA: To start with, Joel left the band late last summer 2006 due to personal circumstances. He didn’t really knew if he wanted to continue playing at all, that is what he told me personally when we spoke. Since he knew that NOMINON were about to record a brand new album, he said that we should look for another bassist instead. It wasn’t an easy task, you know. Joel and I have been friends since 91. That’s for quite some time I’d say. Well, luckily Anders stepped in kinda direct. He’s also a very good friend since way back. The thing is that I didn’t really know that he was playing bass since he used to play drums in PROPHANITY. But he showed us that he was capable of doing it, so now he has been with us for more than a year already. Yeah, well, for Dave Suzuki introducing or presenting the NOMINON promotion video clip. We toured with VITAL REMAINS back in 2005 in

Perra: Thank you for appreciating our work. I agree with you totally, I think this album is the strongest and most varied, best produced and best designed NOMINON album so far. The reviews and response has been tremendous so far. I personally gets annoyed by some people who still say that NOMINON is just another DISMEMBER or ENTOMBED clone, but I guess I just have to deal with it. Riff-wise I could agree on some of the accusations. Yet, I mean, Fred Estby (ex drummer of DISMEMBER) and me we have nothing in common when it comes to playing drums. I have worked with him in the past since he was one of the engineers during the recording of the old SUFFER albums back in the 90’ies. Personally I have nothing against him, but he is not really a drummer in my eyes, that’s all I have to say. Imagine him recording tracks like “Ebola”, “Arcanum” or even “Life Extinct”. Case closed.

WHAT THE BAND'S NAME- NOMINON, MEANS?
PERRA: NOMINON is a demon. A servant of Belsebub.
WHO WRITE THE LYRICS IN THE BAND… AND WHAT’S THE LYRICS ABOUT?
PERRA: Nowadays it is mostly Daniel that is taking care of all the lyrics. I wrote the lyrics for a track on the “RECREMATION” album (“Buried By Me”). I am glad it ended up on the album, since it’s a very personal lyric for me. The lyrics content is in general about a lot of dark and evil things as well as diseases and Death.
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT NEXT FROM THE NOMINON… IN THE NEAR FUTURE?
PERRA: Now we are about to take part of a split 7” EP with some other bands. It’s so new that I don’t even know that much about it. We will also play at a festival here in
WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ABOUT THE THEMES LIKE –

PERRA: It used to be more fascinating when it wasn’t as obvious as it is in the world today.

PERRA: I know what you are trying to imply here. Well, much water has been floating under the bridges since I recorded that MCD with SUFFER back in 1993. To be honest, if you are talking about the REAL “Global Warming”, it was too late even in 1993. Today people try to be so polite and care so much about mother earth and the environment, that’s a bit stupid as it’s not up to the human race anymore. It’s too late. Welcome the plagues, welcome the diseases, welcome Death.
